DocSpera is a secure platform for physicians and medical device professionals to collaborate and improve care
Sunnyvale, CA
Compliant Innovations announced the closing of its Series A financing to support the rapidly growing demand for its DocSpera platform. Launched in 2013, DocSpera allows surgeons and procedural specialists to collaborate with peers and medical device representatives on patient care. The investors in the Series A round include Lifeforce Ventures and Attractor Ventures.
“In complex procedures, care collaboration can be difficult because of the need to protect patient health information.” said Sy Fahimi, co-founder and chief executive officer. “We launched DocSpera to give extended care teams that sit across multiple institutions, departments and geographies, an easy to use HIPAA-compliant communication platform for streamlining the collaboration required to deliver the highest level of patient care in complex cases.”
DocSpera provides tools to create secure networks of verified physicians, nurses, and medical device representatives to share specific patient case information, discuss therapies, and review new procedures and medical devices. Since its launch, DocSpera has signed up over a thousand surgeons from leading institutions such as Cleveland Clinic, Hospital for Special Surgery, Mayo and many other large practices.
“In surgical care, our care teams often include other physicians, nurses, and medical device industry representatives who play a consultative role on the cases,” said DocSpera member, Dr. Orrin Franko, Orthopedic Surgery Resident at University of California, San Diego. “While EMRs have improved some communication challenges, they do not work across different institutions and are limited only to providers within a single hospital system. DocSpera allows for sharing of critical patient images, videos, and clinical history among colleagues worldwide via a single platform that crosses medical devices. Combined with an intuitive interface on mobile devices, this tool greatly improves efficiency and collaboration.”
DocSpera was designed by practicing surgeons to reflect the way care teams actually work. The solution helps to streamline the clinical workflow within and across institutions. With DocSpera, physicians are able to get immediate second opinions and communicate with their care teams in real-time. Medical device representatives are also able to save time and costs by having direct access to pertinent information such as x-rays and surgery schedules.
